Baby Photography FAQs
How does scheduling work?
Normally, I like to get pictures within 24-48 hours after the birth… so, just put me on the list of people to call after the baby is born and I’ll make arrangements to stop by when it’s convenient for you in the next day or so before you leave the hospital.
I work downtown and normally try to get sessions in between 10:30am-2:30pm when there’s less people/traffic in your room. The session usually takes about 30 minutes. Just give me a call and we’ll make it work… I’m pretty flexible.
Does it matter which hospital?
Free photo sessions are only available (for a limited time) at the local Cedar Rapids hospitals. Additional costs may be involved for photos at a hospital outside of Cedar Rapids or at a residence.
How much does it cost?
Photo session prices can be found here. We refund 50% of the photo session when prints are ordered. You can view the prints online - free of charge. Proof prints (3x5" prints) are available for a nominal charge.
How do I order prints?
At the time of the photo session, I'll assign to you a code to enter here at www.deeterphotography.com. By entering the code, you'll be able to view and order your photos.
How do I share my photos with others?
After logging in to view your photos, you'll notice a link at the left of the page that will take you to a "viewing only" gallery. Click the link at the top of the gallery page to send that link to friends and family.
How many photos do you offer?
I usually shoot about 10 different poses and offer about 15-20 photos to select from. If you have any special poses or shots that you'd really like me to get, let me know and we'll make extra sure to capture it perfectly.
How many people will you photograph?
In most cases only the mother, father and baby are present durring the photo session; however, additional immediate family members (siblings) would be acceptable as well. If you'd like to include other family members, additional charges may be applied (up to $10 per person due to time involved with posing and editing).
For how long are the prints available to purchase?
The online ordering system will accept orders for 6 months. However, any order submitted later than 4 weeks from the session date may incur a delay for processing.
Do you offer any other photography besides babies?
Yes. Although I focus primarily on baby photography, I do provide on-site family photography such as family portaits, individual portaits, special/situational photography (that means photos that require special setup for a specific purpose), senior portaits and just about any other photography that can be done "on-site".
